Refurbished Radiodetection CAT4+ EN11 | Cable Locator with Depth

This refurbished Radiodetection CAT4+ gives budget-conscious buyers a locator with a depth-estimation function, backed by a 12-month warranty and 12-month calibration. It is a sensible option when the job needs more than the standard CAT4's route tracing but does not require gCAT4+ usage and location logging.

Depth estimation without moving to a logging model

The plus model adds an estimated-depth readout in Genny mode. Use an appropriate applied Genny signal for line locating, or a compatible sonde for a non-metallic pipe, following the manufacturer instructions. Depth readings are affected by the signal and surrounding services; they do not establish that mechanical excavation is safe.

Core locating with estimated depth

Power, Radio, Genny and Avoidance are the core operating modes. This CAT4+ adds estimated depth in Genny mode. GPS usage logging, SWING warning and CALSafe are gCAT4+ functions and are not features of this model.

Build the right locating kit

A new Genny4 signal generator or refurbished Genny4 lets you apply a traceable signal to a suitable service, rather than relying only on signals already present. It is optional with this standalone locator. Choose the connection method and accessories for the job, following the manufacturer instructions.

When clamp application is appropriate, a 100 mm Genny clamp connects to the transmitter, not directly to the CAT receiver. A used 100 mm clamp is another buying option. Check connector compatibility, service diameter and condition; clamp operation is not required for every direct connection.

For a non-metallic pipe or duct, a compatible 33 kHz S18A sonde or Standard 33 kHz sonde provides a locatable point. To push a suitable sonde through the route, compare 9 mm × 60 m Flexrod and 9 mm × 120 m Flexrod, checking the coupling and pipe clearance.

To trace an energised rod route instead, compare FlexiTrace 50 m and FlexiTrace 80 m. FlexiTrace needs a suitable transmitter connection; a plain Flexrod does not create that line-tracing signal.

For transport, choose the CAT4/CAT3 soft carry bag for the handheld instrument or compare the CAT-and-Genny soft bag for a combined kit. Arrange ongoing CAT and Genny servicing and calibration separately from the purchase warranty.

Which CAT4 model fits your work?

If you only need route tracing, compare the refurbished CAT4. If a supervisor needs records of where and how the equipment was used, compare the refurbished gCAT4+. Pick the required model functions first, then decide between new and refurbished condition.

A 12-month warranty and 12-month calibration are included. Warranty provides purchase reassurance; calibration addresses the equipment’s calibration status. This refurbished CAT4+ keeps the initial purchase cost lower, while new CAT4+ stock suits a new-only procurement policy or a preference for unused equipment.

Before you order

Is a Genny included?

No Genny is included in the base standalone-locator offer shown here. Select it in the existing options panel if required; check the chosen option’s contents.

Does it measure depth?

It estimates depth in Genny mode when the signal and operating conditions permit. Follow the line or sonde method in the operating instructions. A depth reading is not clearance to excavate.

Can it locate a plastic pipe on its own?

Not the unenergised plastic material itself. A suitable sonde or traceable rod system provides a signal that the locator can detect, subject to the application and operating conditions.

Does a quiet reading mean the area is clear?

No. Some services do not carry a detectable signal, and one response can mask another. Use the complete survey and safe excavation procedure required for your site, with the manufacturer operating instructions.
