Drain Cameras
A drain inspection camera lets you survey the inside of a pipe to find blockages, cracks, root intrusion and collapses without excavation. Push cameras handle domestic and commercial drains; motorised crawlers survey mainline sewers. A built-in sonde lets you locate a defect from the surface so any repair digs in the right place.
Choose from push cameras, crawler systems and drain camera accessories, including Vivax-Metrotech and Pearpoint. Buy outright, choose refurbished, or take a system on drain camera hire. For how to survey to standard, read the professional drain CCTV handbook, or compare two leading systems in Vivax vs Pearpoint.
Drain Camera FAQs
What is a drain camera?
A drain camera is a waterproof CCTV camera, on a flexible push-rod or a motorised crawler, that inspects the inside of a drain or sewer. It finds blockages, cracks, root intrusion and collapses without digging, and a built-in sonde lets you pinpoint any defect from the surface.
How much does a drain camera cost?
Compact fixed-camera systems start at around £850. Professional self-levelling HD systems with a sonde and recording run from roughly £3,000 to £6,000, and motorised crawlers for mainline sewers cost more again. Refurbished systems cut those prices substantially.
Do I need a push camera or a crawler?
Pipe diameter decides. Push cameras cover roughly 40–150mm — domestic drains, soil stacks and laterals — and suit most plumbers and drainage contractors. Crawlers are motorised units for mainline sewers of 150mm and up.
Can I hire a drain camera instead of buying?
Yes. We hire calibrated drain camera systems by the week with UK-wide delivery — see our drain camera hire rates. Regular users usually find a refurbished system pays for itself quickly.
