Cable Avoidance

Cable avoidance tools (CATs) and signal generators (Gennys) locate buried cables and pipes before excavation, helping you avoid a strike that can injure people and stop a job. A CAT listens for the signals given off by buried services; a Genny applies a traceable signal so you can follow a specific line. Used together and kept in calibration, they are the backbone of safe digging under HSG47.

Our range covers CAT scanners and locators, signal generators (Gennys), sonde locators, magnetic locators, accessories and water leak detection, from Radiodetection, C.Scope and Leica. Buy new or refurbished, or take calibrated kit on CAT and Genny hire. New to locating, or choosing a model? Start with the 2026 guide to cable avoidance and our CAT4 vs C.Scope vs Leica comparison. We also offer calibration and repair.
